Black Rock City Acculturation: Where Will You Volunteer?
Volunteerism is important; it is the purest sense of giving. When you give freely with no guarantee of compensation…The reward is the journey itself.  There are so many opportunities and places to volunteer within Black Rock City (Artery, Artica, Airport, Center Camp Cafe, Census, Greeters, Lamp Lighters, Media Mecca, Playa Info).

You are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to volunteer outside of camp and give of yourself and your time to the citizens of BRC.

Log into your Burner Profile and fill out the Volunteer Questionnaire to get matched with volunteer teams.  Start conversations where you are signed-up to volunteer on our  Volunteer Together | Share Together.

Teardown:

It is a massive undertaking that requires lots & lots of hands. In 2025 ONLY 6 CAMPERS stayed On-Playa to assist with tear down on into Monday night & Tuesday afternoon. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!!

Many of you have suggested that we start to tear down the structures on Sunday to better manage it all; Yes we could do that in some manner; but teardown is not just taking the structures down. The process also requires taking those individual items we took down; put them into staged piles of things that are going into the shared container with the Twisted Swan, what is going back to Phoenix - THEN LOADING THOSE PILES OF THINGS INTO TWO TRUCKS AND SAID CONTAINER!

I personally have not left BRC on Monday in 20+ yrs; but it is my presumption that many of you clock at least 10+ hours in line of exodus  to get from camp until you reach Pavement; plus however many additional hours it takes to reach Route 80 towards points East/West.

Instead of sitting in that line - As you look to your 2026 BRC Travel PLEASE!!!! NO I AM BEGGING!!! That we have the COMMITMENT of at least 20 campers that are willing to stay until Tuesday Afternoon/Evening to leave BRC and assist in the massive effort it takes to pack it all away. If you leave BRC on Tuesday - You will be able to DRIVE STR8 OUT to the Pavement and the standard 3-Hour drive to Route 80.  The new normal for the Phoenix crew is to leave BRC by Wednesday Noon but the work thru Tuesday afternoon needs YOU OUR CAMPERS!

PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE see if you can arrange your departure from BRC to assist in this massive effort; Many Hands Make Light Work!
