Village of PolyParadise ART CAR - BRC 2022

September 10, 2021 - Updated November 16, 2021

With many lessons learned from Memorial Day WKD; we made significant progress on the PolyParadise People Mover to a Mutant Vehicle worthy of a DMV BRC License.  Even though it might seem like we have a lot of time to get this all done - time flies by and then June & July move into August - You know the drill; you think you have lot of time - you have months to get this all done.

Over the past few months I was able to get a lot of things done & marked complete on the vehicle build. As we are doing this build during the Phoenix 100+ temp and not very many people are up @ sunrise ready to work as I am to get plenty done and be in the pool for the 1st time of the day by ~9:00a.

I put in the work and of course the $$$$ for our Burn Week gathering with projects staged and ready for installation instead of being @ the design & fabrication stage.  With this in mind we will be able to see a more completed vision together as Burn Week progresses.

On Saturday night we took the vehicle out for its MAIDEN VOYAGE rolling around our neighborhood - SUCCESS - SUCCESS - SUCCESS!!!!

What are the NEXT Projects for the Art Car?

*
*** Top Panel Lights/Lettering - Started the idea of using the Flexible Neon Tubing to crate PolyParadise on one side | Burning Man 2022 on one side | Man / Heart / Infinity Symbol on the front.  The Back of the top box will be a 4"x3'' Programmable LED Panel (Need to start to figure that part all out)

The Flexible Neon Tubing is not not flexible enough to make lettering; so we have PUNTED and are using EL-Wire instead for the Driver Side & Passenger Side Panels.  Have used the Neon Tubing to create a wave shape on the back panel.

The 4"x3'' Programmable LED Panel appears to be awesome but is just to small to see on the top of the vehicle if placed on either the Front or back panels mounted to the roof box.  Have PUNTED and will use EL-Wire to display the vehicle's name on the front panel.

**** Raise the vehicle on jacks and use the grinder to remove the rust and crud from the frame - then paint the cleaned frame with Truck Bed-Liner Paint.

The day that CactusMan came by to assist with hooking up the new Rear Lights electrical wise; since we had the vehicle on jacks the undercarriage was wire brushed and painted with the Bed Liner Paint.

**** Undercarriage Lights - The undercarriage Rope Light has been installed all around the vehicle.

**** Make sure EVERY Surface is not original - Attempting to make sure that there are no surfaces of the vehicle that have not been adorned with UV-Fabric or UV-Paint.

**** Rear Bar Ice Trough - Need to purchase two soft side coolers and create a shelf in the rear compartment to hold the coolers - Create a curtain or other type of way to hide the ice area but make it easily assessable.

Purchased (2) Soft-Sided (Hard Interior) coolers that fit just about PERFECTLY inside the trough - They are very accessible for ice service and can be removed easily.  May need to scoop out some of the melted ice aka Water prior to attempting to lift the cooler out to drain.

**** Front Vehicle Decorating - Decorate & adorn the front of the vehicle with fabric and Googly Eyes.

The Front of the vehicle has been transformed into a Face (Eyes, Nose, Mouth) and a tribute to Ray Shady the reason the vehicle is now part of PolyParadise.

**** Roof Stanchion Decorating - Excited to see what the French Team creates to hide said Roof Stanchions.

The received Flowers/Vines/Lights we received from our camp's French Connection are AMAZING!!!  Though the original intention was to use these as wrapping for the Roof Stanchions; but after further evaluation that is just not going to work as the roof stanchions are going to be used as a grab point to get on/off the vehicle and will ruin the Flowers/Vines.  The best option to incorporate them into the vehicle is to out line the Back Rim of the Roof and the back portion of the Roof Top as well as outlining the front of the vehicle along the Windshield and wrapping along the front bottom.

The Roof Stanchions will be decorated with UV-Fabric in an eclectic pattern of colors

**** Secure all Roof Top Wiring - All wiring (Speakers & Lights) on top of the roof box need to be secured to the wood frame.  Need to run wiring for the (3) Roof Top Panels (EL-Wire) to the Driver/Passenger side Dashboard.  The EL-Wire segments are Battery powered - There are ~15 of them.

**** Wire Roof Mounted AIR Horn - The AIR HORN needs to be wired and the Horn Button needs to be extended to the Driver Side Window Stanchion for easy access.

**** Megaphone PA Wiring Extension - The Roof mounted Megaphone PA microphone wire is not long enough - will need to extend the length of the wire so that the MIC can be mounted on the passenger side front roof stanchion.

**** Speaker Covers - Purchase stretchable Nylon Scrim covers for the speakers and have changing color light shining on them for just one more light pattern and of course protect the speakers.

**** Front Roof/Back Roof Cover - Use remaining UV-Fabric to fashion covers for the Back Portion of remaining roof that is currently not covered. Plea for MONEY!!!!
