Village of PolyParadise ART CAR - BRC 2022

August 8, 2021

Even though it might seem like we have a lot of time to get the PolyParadise People Mover to a Mutant Vehicle worthy of a DMV BRC License - time flies by and then June & July move into August - You know the drill; you think you have lot of time - you have months to get this all done...

The idea of this project is not for me to do all the work - the entire project is COMMUNITY-BASED!!! Meaning that all of you will be involved in its creation; but you are not all here @ Casa de Scotto each and everyday - you are only here when we have a PolyParadise gatherings. Of course I live in Phoenix and during the summer Phoenix is HOT and is not conducive to work outside and of course the Art Car is outside so you see the conundrum...

We had a PolyParadise gathering Memorial Day WKD where we started the process of removing the seats - removing the original vinyl fabric - Start to cut fabric to re-upholster the seats - Cut wood that will become the Roof top Box and otherwise start to figure out HOW THE HELL WE ARE GOING TO ACCOMPLISH THIS THING!!!!

The Memorial WKD Gathering was well attended but with the Phx heat - the Lore of the POOL - Drink & other mind altering substances we did not get as much done as I had hoped; so I knew that over the next few months I would need to get things going...

Accomplished in June...

*** Battery Replacement - The new batteries arrived two weeks after Memorial WKD - Changing out the 12 batteries was a chore to say the least - I only made it ARC twice (Scared the SHIAT out of me). Take the old batteries for recycling ($200) I admit I went to the WEED STORE with that $$$$.

**** Start the process of cutting fabric for each of the (4) Sitting seats and the (4) Seat Backs.

**** Learned to Pin Fabric the correct way - Learned to Sew - BTW Learning to sew with heavy FUZZY FABRIC was a challenge. Thought I broke the sewing machine - bought a new Heavy Duty sewing machine | There was much rejoicing....MANY MANY THANKS TO GINNY FOR HER PATIENCE IS TEACHING ME THE ART OF SEWING!!!

**** Realized that the vehicle would not be able to be out in the open to the sun & weather - purchased a Costco Carport to cover the vehicle.

Accomplished in July...

Projects for Burn Week 2021

**** With the flooring spray painted Black - use the existing stencils or freehand paint the flooring with UV-Paint - Then paint over the top of that with Clear Waterproofing paint.

**** Raise the vehicle on jacks and use the grinder to remove the rust and crud from the frame - then paint the cleaned frame with Truck Bed-Liner Paint.

**** Spray Paint (Black) the vertical roof stanchions (Front & Back).

**** Create an extension of the flooring to the back of the vehicle for the Generator - fashion a section on the end of that extension for the Tail Lights.

**** Remove existing speaker system

**** Affix Velcro to the underside of the roof that will support the UV-Fabric

**** Cut|Pin|Sew UV-Fabric; then sew in Velcro to match what was affixed to the roof

**** Build the over the Roof Box (9' long x 1.5' high x 5' wide) & floor within the box

**** Start build of the Bar that will face the back of the vehicle that will fit over the existing handrails of the seat the used to be there.

*** We are replacing the blinky lights on the Metal Man with UV-Fabric - The Fabric will need to be Cut|Pin|Sewn. (The Light Truss will also be wrapped in UV-Fabric | This has already been Cut & Sewn with Velcro sewn in)

**** If time allows and we have enough motivated campers - we could take the stuff out of the garage and do the Cleaning|Sorting of the Playa Gear that we did not do in March of 2020.
